I like the idea of focusing on decisions. Even if a poker session is a losing one, I can walk away feeling like I won if I know that I made each individual decision correctly. It’s all you can control in poker, your decisions. I like this idea because I can relate it to my favorite sport football, only the texas holdem chip is the ball. If a quarterback in a football game prevents bad decisions, his team will almost always, at least, be close in the game. On the flip side, the same quarterback can make perfect decisions for 99% of the game and just one tiny mistake could sink the entire chip stack.
This is a great tip for beginners to focus on because it allows a structure in which to get through the poker session. Just taking it one decision at a time. Like another previous poster mentioned, this core theory is straight out of the poker game of life. I will say that it unfortunately did take me a few knocks to get to the point where I was making the RIGHT decision most of the time! Just don’t forget, regardless of the above analogy, in the casino chip accumulation is the goal not touchdowns! Good luck at the tables!
